Eknath Shinde is an Indian politician and from 30th June 2022, he is serving as the 20th Chief Minister of Maharashtra. His full name is Eknath Sambhaji Rao Shinde. He is current Member of Legislative Assembly from Kopri-Pachpakhadi Constituency of Thane, Maharashtra and was the Cabinet Minister of Urban Development and Public Works in Government of Maharashtra. Shinde has been also elected consecutively for 4 terms in the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly for years 2004, 2009, 2014 and 2019.

Eknath Shinde quit his studies after 11th class to earn a livelihood for his family. He was in the auto rickshaw driving business in 1980, when he was introduced to Shivsena supremo Bal Thakre and Shivsena Thane District chief Anand Dighe, who helped him to join Shivsena. After joining Shivsena party, he was elected as the Sakha Pramukh of Kisan Nagar in the year 1980. Eknath started initiating several political and social rallies focused on the issue such as black marketing, hoarding of essential commodities inflation etc. Shinde was detained by the police for 40 days for participating in Maharashtra-Karnataka border agitation.

In 1997, he was appointed as the corporator of the Thane Municipal Corporation. After that he was nominated as a leader of the house in TMC in 2001. Under Shinde’s guidance Shivsena grabbed the kingship in the Thane Municipal Corporation, Kalyan Dombivli Municipal Corporation, Bhiwandi Municipal Corporation and Badlapur Municipal Council. Bal Thakre gave him the opportunity to contest the Assembly election in 2004 and he was elected as MLA from the Thane Legislative Assembly Constituency. He also won the 2009, 2014 and 2019 consecutive Legislative Assembly Elections.
After that he appointed as the leader of the legislative party of Shivsena and the leader of the opposition in the Maharashtra Assembly. Eknath Shinde was designated as the Health minister of Maharashtra and soon he hit the headlines for filling the 890 posts of MBBS doctors and specialist in several hospitals in the year 2019.
