Biography of Rishabh Pant

Born and brought up in Roorkee, Uttarakhand, Rishabh was always fascinated with cricket right from childhood. Due to a lack of infrastructural opportunities, Rishabh had to move from one city to another. When he was 12 years old, his parents decided to move to Delhi. Here, Rishabh got an opportunity to train under Tarak Sinha.

Tarak Sinha had previously trained Indian cricketer Shikhar Dhawan. Sinha’s guidance helped Rishab to develop a solid base. Later he moved to Rajasthan to participate at the district level tournaments. Rishabh was treated as an outsider there and came back to Delhi to finish his schooling.

3. In 2016 -2017 Ranji Trophy, Pant scored 308 runs against Maharashtra and became the 3rd youngest Indian and 4th overall, to hit a triple century in first-class cricket

4. In November 2016, Pant scored the fastest century (in 48 balls) in the Ranji Trophy, against Jharkhand.

5. In 2018, he became the 1st Indian and 6th overall player to take 7 catches on Test debut as a wicket-keeper.

Pant matched that record held by England’s Jack Russell and South Africa’s A. B. de Villiers.

9. In 2018, he became the 1st Indian and 12th overall player to hit a six as the first scoring shot on Test debut.



On 28 December 2021, Rishabh Pant became the fastest India wicket-keeper to reach 100 dismissals in the longest format of the game. Pant achieved the feat on Day 3 of the ongoing first Test against South Africa. The left-handed batter broke former skipper MS Dhoni’s record to reach 100 dismissals.
